BIMA Observations of the Soft Gamma-Ray Repeaters
Smith, I. A., Chernin, L. M., & Hurley, K.
The far infrared observations of the quiescent counterparts to the Soft
Gamma-Ray Repeaters SGR1806-20 and SGR1900+14 indicate that these sources
contain both point source and extended components.
We observed them at 85 GHz using the Berkeley-Illinois-Maryland Array, and
found that neither of them had detectable point source emission.
These results are consistent with other millimeter and submillimeter upper
limits, suggesting that the bright far infrared point source emission is from
dust.
The point source upper limit for SGR1806-20 is not inconsistent with the
observation of a point-like "core" to the radio nebula.
