M42 & M45 by Quentin Hinds

I was out in early December testing my Canon 10D capabilities for astro-imaging and got some very pleasing results.
Both images where acquired with 5 minute unguided iterations.
I didn’t have my AC power adapter yet at the time and got about 3.5 hrs out of single battery.

Notes: Acquired with Canon Remote Capture, Converted to TIF, Registered and Combined using Image Plus.

Quentin writes: Sunspot 693 are two large spots each nearly twice the size of the Earth
connected by magnetic lines of force which hold energy for a potentially large flare.
